This power steering mounting plate is a key component used when converting early CJ and Willys models (pre-1971) to Saginaw power steering, like those seen in Advance Adapters’ steering conversion kits (such as PN 716806K).
The 716838 mounting plate attaches the Saginaw steering gear to the driver-side front frame rail and provides a large, stable weld surface for secure installation. It is constructed from durable cast steel and is intended to be welded to the frame by a qualified welder.
The plate is designed to support all four steering gear mounting bolts, which are installed from the bracket side into the steering box. Even late-model GM steering boxes that feature only a three-bolt flange (similar to manual steering setups) are compatible with this bracket.
