F-134 Electronic ignition.

Being an old geezer, I am all too aware of the downfalls of a set of points and a condenser. I decided to upgrade the distributor in our 1962 CJ5 with the F-134 engine. The complete kit (fully assembled distributor, rotor, cap, matching plug wires, matching coil and matching spark plugs) from "Jeepsterman" arrived in short order and was well packaged. I brought cylinder #1 to TDC and swapped out the distributor easily. I had one issue with the distributor. Before installation I laid the distributors side by side for comparison; with the oilers on one side and the adjustment plate on the other side. The wide side of the keyway on the new distributor shaft was exact opposite from the OEM distributor and the rotor was pointing180 degrees from the OEM distributor. Thus, when I installed the new wires I had to install them in the distributor 180 degrees from where they had been on the OEM distributor. As of this writing I have not fired up the engine and timed it.

Happy customer.

After having many issues with the original distributor I had finally had enough. I purchased an Electronic system from Jeepster. After installing the new system my F-134 starts effortlessly. I honestly belive it brought new life to my old engine.
