Bill's British '42 GPW - The JeepsterMan

Bill's British '42 GPW

Bill Ringieson from Pennsylvania. This is a 1942 GPW. It's on a Willys frame. And it's- it actually was British it was rebuilt in Germany in '54. But it's by the blackout light switch on the dash. It's British in the horn and the numbers- registration numbers is two letters- two numbers, two letters and two numbers meaning it was British. And uh I put my dad's service number on it, he was a world war II veteran. And then his division and infantry is on the back. I redid this 24 years ago. Found it in a chicken coop in Squirrel Hill, Pennsylvania. Starting to show its wear.

It looks good, it looks really good. How long have you coming out the reunion?

This is- I come last year and this year. I was here a few years back, but it's been coming up starting to come back again.

These original pioneer tools?

Yes. I believe they are.

That's kind of unusual.

Netting is World War II issue. Its big enough to cover the Jeep and the trailer.

Well that's awesome! Yeah I saw the the crossmember and I was like... That's a Willys!

Yeah, let's see let's open the hood up show you where the serial number is. Usually just on an MB, the serial number plates right here. It's on with two holes they said that the frames punched for the rivet holes, someone tore it apart and rebuilt it the holes haven't been punched here's where the serial number is on it down. Here's where Ford put theirs, I have it highlighted where you can fairly see it. Supposed to be the horn was the difference in this switch on the dash. This one had the blackout lights. They paint the half- the British paint the rear end half white and the switch here, they laminated the rear end, that way they could tell the distance they were back in front- how far they were apart.

Looks awesome! Cool, Thanks!
